Ear Tubes - Round 2

Poor baby Cade has had terrible ear trouble since he was 2 months old. Ear infection after ear infection until he was a year old and the doc decided it was time for ear tubes. He got his first set when he was 13 months old and they worked wonders! Immediately stopped the ear infections. But unfortunately, they don't last forever (usually last 9-18 months), so after a year, they started to fall out and quit working. So after a year of being ear infection free, he immediately went back to having ear infections, or just fluid build up behind his ear drums. After a couple months of trying to see if the fluid would go away on its own, we decided to do the tubes again. The doc said there is only about a 10 percent chance of having to do it again. (Thank goodness! I'm going to be paying for this child's ears for years!)

So last Thursday, we loaded up and headed back over to Cook's for our second round of tubes. Here's Cade still snoozing in mommy's bed before I had to wake him up at 3:30 a.m.! We had to pick Mickey up at the fire station by 4, then be at the hospital by 5:30.

Ha! Tired little pumpkin wondering why I woke him up so darn early!

See? I told you it was early!

After we got to the hospital, Cade got his cute little hospital gown. He's checking out all the cool stuff in the cabinet!

Dancing? I don't know! The kid is weird!

He was pretty wound up by this time!

LOVE the diaper butt through the gown!
Cade did SUPER during surgery and didn't even cry when they took him away from me. They medicate them and make them loopy so it's not traumatic. (Much better on Mama that way too!)

I think the surgery took about 5 minutes or so and the doc came out and told us they had pulled a bunch of fluid off both his ears and that there was so much fluid both of his ear drums were bulging! Poor baby! Doc said we should notice an immediate drastic improvement in his hearing.

When he woke up in recovery he was groggy, but smiling! He downed two cups of apple juice and then had a popsicle. I have a pic on my phone of him eating his popsicle, but I'm not smart enough to get it on the computer!

After about 20-30 mins in recovery, we were released to go home. Cade got a wagon ride to the parking garage.

He's still kind of groggy, but he liked it!
