Today is a very special day in the Belew household.... we’ve got something to celebrate!
No... we’re not celebrating the fact that it’s 22 days until Christmas, or that it’s five days till the hubs and I leave for Vegas, or that it’s 18 days until winter begins.
Today, folks, my baby boy turns 2!
I just keep looking at him and think, really? Two years old? Where in the world did the time go? Where did my baby go? Who is this chatter box Mr. Independent?
His favorite thing to say these days is “I do it Mommy”... for everything from putting on his socks to brushing his teeth. Even though sometimes he fumbles and stumbles, he always manages to get things done, and it makes me a touch sad he’s not needing me as much as he used to.
It has been such a joy to watch him grow these past two years and it’s amazing how much he’s changed and grown in just the past year. I love watching him learn and do new things and am amazed every day at the things he does. He definitely has his own ideas about things, right down to the shoes he wears (most always his boots) and which cap he wears on his head (most always a taboggan — even when it’s not cold outside!).
I love to see the things he’s becoming interested in — or obsessed with — depending on how you look at it. The boy loves tractors and knows just how to sweet-talk both of his Papaws into giving him rides. He loves feeding the horses and goats and will just about have a screaming fit if he doesn’t get to do it. He thinks he’s becoming a roper and will take his shoestring-turned-rope and swing it around his head and say “rope cows Mama!” He loves going to Sonic for a “lushie” (slushie) and loves watching football on TV with Daddy.
I love the little person he’s becoming. He seems so grown up, yet he has so far to go. I never thought I could love him more or be more proud of him than I was on the day he was born, but I am.
I’m excited to watch him grow and learn and become a young man, but until then, I’ll take my cuddle time in the evenings and enjoy kissing every boo-boo.
I love you baby boy and I am so proud of you. Happy 2nd Birthday!
